A new project to develop multimodal graphene based neural interfaces for revealing wide bandwidth brain activity

A project to follow our research on neural interfaces has been awarded to the GAB in the latest national call Generation of Knowledge of the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation.

In particular, the MANIAC project that will be led by Anton Guimerà and Xavi Illa is focused in the development of a neural interface capable of dynamically mapping interstitial ion concentration and tissue bioimpedance, simultaneously with electrophysiological brain activity. The technology aims to be a fundamental tool for neuroscience to obtain a mechanistic view of neuronal disorders and to investigate new useful biomarkers for the diagnosis of neuronal pathologies.

These aid is granted within the framework of the State Program for the Generation of Knowledge and Scientific and Technological Strengthening of the R&D&i System and within the framework of the State Program for R&D&i Oriented to the Challenges of Society, of the State Plan Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2017-2020, aimed at research and knowledge dissemination organizations.
